Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American TV reporter, journalist and anchor of NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell was hired by KYW Radio and TV as an Philadelphia reporter in 1967. 1976 Mitchell joined WDVM-TV Washington DC, a CBS-affiliated station (then WTOP). She was hired by NBC News Washington two years following that as an general reporter. Beginning in 1981, she began working for the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell became the chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell has appeared in the TV news program Meet the Press as a panelist and host. She was a member of a panel for the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received in 2005 the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) recognized Mitchell for her work in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell initially covered in the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. She covered many notable issues, such as the arms control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. She also traveled to various summits while in the company of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
